Is Secret Letter free?
Yes. You can write a letter and create its reveal link without opening an account.
Does Secret Letter send an email later?
No. The unique link is created immediately. Save it or share it yourself; the message becomes readable on the reveal date.
Can I write anonymously?
The sender name is optional, so the displayed letter can be unnamed. The service does not promise technical anonymity or untraceability.
Is the letter private?
The letter is not listed publicly, but anyone with its unique link may be able to access it. Treat the URL as a secret and do not include high-risk information.
Does the recipient need an account?
No. The recipient opens the letter in a web browser using the link.
What happens if I lose the letter link?
There is no account-based recovery. Check your bookmarks, browser history, saved notes, or the conversation where you shared the link. If someone else has a copy, ask them to share it back. Save the link somewhere you can find it again.
When does the letter open if the recipient is in another time zone?
The reveal date and time are interpreted in the time zone of the device you use to create the letter. The message becomes readable at the same moment for everyone, even if their local clocks show different times. The date displayed on the letter is the sender's chosen date and time; share your time zone with the recipient to avoid confusion. Refresh the page after the reveal time.
Can I read the letter again after opening it?
Yes. Opening a letter does not delete it or use up the link. You can return to the same link on or after the reveal date while the letter remains available.
How can I request deletion of a letter?
Email hello@secretletter.co with the exact letter link from an address where you can receive a reply. Requests may require reasonable verification. There is currently no self-service delete button.
Is long-term storage guaranteed?
No. Secret Letter does not guarantee permanent storage or uninterrupted availability. Letters are not automatically deleted after opening, but they may be removed and the service may change or stop operating. Keep your own copy of any message you cannot afford to lose.
